The Visa Officer

Embassy of Greece

Subject: Application requesting a visitor visa for Greece after refusal

Respected Sir/Madam

I, hereby, introduce myself as Kritika Singh (Passport No.-), an Indian national living in Bhubaneswar, Odisha. I have decided to take an international holiday with my family to Turkey and Greece. The purpose of writing this application is to request a visitor visa for Greece for me, my husband Kunal Verma, and our twelve-year-old daughter Riya Verma. The duration of our planned holiday is from 20th November 2025 to 30th November 2025. We will be spending 5 days in Greece before returning to India. I shall inform you that unfortunately, we have already received a visa refusal for Greece on 2-01-2025 for a similar request. The reasons given for this denial are-

  • You have not provided proof of sufficient means of subsistence, for the duration of the intended stay for the return to the country of origin or residence, or for the transit to a third country into which you are certain to be admitted.
  • The information submitted regarding the justification for the purpose and conditions of the intended stay was not reliable.

Purpose of Visit

I am a content writer and work with an Indian publishing company, ABC Publishers. In the last few years, I have been able to gain financial, professional, and personal stability in my life. I must also shed some light on my husband’s professional life as it is a crucial part of his identity and is an equal contributor to this holiday. He started off her career as an Assistant Manager in 2010 and is currently working as a Senior Manager. Currently, he works in Infratech Solutions, in Bhubaneswar. The steadiness in these aspects of our lives has allowed us to pursue other interests that were earlier sidelined. One of them is the wish to travel abroad and explore different parts of the world. In the last 10 years, me and my husband have traveled to several countries for professional as well as recreational purposes. We both thrive from gaining new experiences, meeting people with different cultural beliefs, understanding their lifestyles and perspectives, etc. I have also visited Schengen countries Austria, Hungary, Finland, and Italy. It would not be an exaggeration to say that our holidays keep us motivated and are a source of encouragement in our everyday life. With this intention, I have decided to travel to our next destination. The top two countries on my checklist are Turkey and Greece. I have chosen these two countries after much consideration of the kind of experiences I wish to gain as a tourist. While Turkey is my husband’s most aspired tourist destination, we both are majorly excited to explore Athens, Greece for many cliched as well as unique reasons. My husband and I share a common interest in history and its fascinating stories. We both have heard elaborately about Athens’s rich history in arts, philosophy, religion, cultural vibrancy, attractive tourist destinations, and particularly monuments & temples. It soon dawned upon us that this country will not just be a unique experience for us but will also be a great learning experience for our school-going daughter. It will expand her mental horizons as she witnesses a social and cultural environment that is so different from our home country. The country’s natural landscape too is fairly distinct and has a vibrance of its own.

Travel Details and Activity Plan

We have finalized our travel details keeping in mind our daughter’s academic schedule. Since November is a festival season in India, she will be receiving a two-week holiday from school during this period. We intend to start our vacation on 20th November 2025 and will conclude it on 30th November 2025. After spending 3 days in Turkey, we will take a flight to Athens on 24th November 2025. We will be holidaying here for 5 days and will depart for India on 30th November 2025. In my years of traveling experience, I have realized that the best way to enjoy a new place is to delve into its culture and atmosphere without any preconceived notions. While we will surely visit popular tourist attractions like the Acropolis, Parthenon, museums, Ancient Agora, and temple of Olympian Zeus; we are equally excited to explore the capital’s natural habitat, archaeological sites, a yacht tour on Agistri and Aegina, etc.

Here, I would like to address the initial refusal reasons regarding concerns about my transit to a third country- Turkey. As a frequent tourist, I am always on the lookout for smart ways through which I can save time and money. The reason why I have first applied for a Greek visa and not a Turkish visa even when I will be visiting Turkey first is that there are financial and visa benefits that can be availed when an applicant has a Schengen visa in hand. I wished to benefit from the rule that Schengen Visa holders can apply for and receive a Turkish e-visa within 3 days. This scheme gives me the chance to save money, time, and labor from going through the long and arduous process of applying for a Turkish visa first.

Kindly allow me to explain that the official website of Turkiye e-visa states that to benefit from this scheme, an applicant’s Schengen Visa should be valid by the time they enter Turkiye (for the entire duration of my trip). It is a prerequisite that my Greece visa’s validity date covers my entry date to Turkiye. Therefore, I humbly and sincerely request that the Greece visa officials make my visitor visa for Greece valid for the entire holiday duration. I earnestly hope that you will look upon this request positively and I will forever be grateful for your kindness to my application. In my opinion, it will be a wise decision to follow these steps and advantage of this course of action.

Financial Details

All expenses of our family holiday will be covered by me and my wife. My ITR for 2025-26 will show that I earn an annual income of INR 20,98,270. My husband, who works with any IT firm, Infratech Solutions as a Senior Manager has an annual income of INR 25,98,120 as per the same ITR. Together, we have liquid assets worth INR 30,00,000. We also own two properties in Puri and Bhubaneswar that are worth INR 50,00,000. The vehicles and valuable ornaments owned by us can be valued at INR 4,00,000 and INR 6,00,000 respectively. The total worth of our combined assets is INR 90,00,000. For your reference, I have attached the CA-approved net-worth certificate which will show the details of all our assets. I am confident that my long travel history, income, and assets are strong proof of our financial strength. I assure you that we are financially capable of taking care of all the expected and unexpected costs of our family holiday.

Motivation To Return To Home Country

We have strong roots in our homeland India and will certainly return after our short excursion. Our family, friends, and relatives are all based here and we enjoy frequent get-togethers. My sister, uncles, aunts, and cousins as well as an extended social circle are based in Puri, where we previously lived. We moved to Bhubaneswar in 2014 and in the year 2016, constructed our own house with love and hard work. After the demise of my father in 2017, my mother was dependent on me for love, care, and well-being, Currently, she is 88 years old and is a valuable part of our family. Although she has motivated us to take this vacation, it is my priority to look after her and I will not leave her alone/lonely for a long period. She is closely attached to her granddaughter and we all will be eager to reunite after our vacation. Moreover, we are taking this trip at a time when my daughter will be having several holidays at her school. We, as parents, prioritize her education over all other things. She is supposed to join her school on 2nd December 2025, thus affirming our return to our country. My husband is a dedicated employee and is devoted to his profession. He hardly ever takes leaves as it is unlike him to compromise on his work commitments. Therefore, it will be easier for him to take leave during our daughter’s school holidays as she will be quite relieved to take a break from her studies. My husband, Kunal Verma is a valued employee at his company where his colleagues respect him and employers admire his work ethic. They all expect his timely return to his roles and responsibilities as it affects his reputation in the firm. Both I as a content writer and my husband as a regular office-goer in Bhubaneswar have a hectic schedule and professional commitments. To complete our everyday personal and professional tasks, we have built a lifestyle here that suits us.

Further, the extensive movable and immovable assets owned by us require constant care and maintenance. They are of a high monetary value and I am responsible for looking after them, thus reassuring our return to our homeland.

Before concluding my application, I must reiterate that the sole purpose of our visit to Greece is tourism. I and my husband are avid travelers and wish to gain the lifetime experience of touring your beautiful country with our daughter. Greece will be a special addition to our travelled countries as it will be our third international trip with our daughter and we are excited to create some cherished memories with her. I have made my best attempts at justifying the reasons for our previous refusal and positively hope that you will provide us with visitor visas for a short holiday in Greece. Additionally, in all good faith, I hope that you will consider and approve my request to make my Greece visa valid for the entire duration of my trip so that I can benefit from the Turkiye online e-visa. With all my heart, I thank you for your time and consideration of this application.

Sincerely

Kritika Singh
