Respected Sir/ Madam,
I, Ravichandran Raju, sincerely thank you for allowing me another opportunity to present my case and reinstate my purpose of visiting Ireland. I possess rich industry exposure in the engineering sector. Having studied civil engineering as a part of my graduate studies, I have outperformed in my endeavors. However, with time, the requirements of the industry have revolutionized and the need for specialization has enhanced pertaining to management positions that I am vouching for. Hence, I have also decided to stay abreast with the current needs and pursue an MSc in Management Practice from Dublin Business School. I have also received a Letter of Admission but my visa application has been rejected due to several reasons that I wish to justify through this letter of explanation.
Academic and professional background
I passed secondary school with first division in 2013 and senior secondary school in 2015 with 62.31%. Having an interest in the construction business led me to enroll in a Bachelor of Civil Engineering which I passed with flying colors in 2019. During my graduation, I learned a lot about how civil projects in construction are raised, managed, and worked out. However, due to an entirely different atmosphere from school and my focus on sports, I underperformed in a few subjects. As a result, I received backlogs in Engineering Chemistry, Basic Electronics, and Design of RC Structural Elements. But because I had been a dedicated sportsperson in badminton, I carried a great sportsmanship and took these backlogs as a challenge to perform even better. Hence, I made sure I cleared all my backlogs before graduating. To gain real-time exposure and a practical understanding of operations, I also worked in the industry from 2021 to 2023. Having already studied civil engineering at the graduate level studies, I have grasped an intricate view of business management and data handling. Many a time, our projects in graduation helped me develop an innate interest in management practices and I took lessons from our mentors on managing projects independently. This helped me a lot during my professional tenure. It has furthered my ability to manage various business processes and work on challenging projects. I began working as a site engineer at JSN Developers and eventually rose to handle operations on behalf of my supervisor. Over time, I learned a lot about the role of a leader which gave me the right perspective and vision to elevate my academic standards and pursue a management course so I can fulfill my career aspirations to become an entrepreneur in the future. However, after thorough research, I am determined to pursue the same from an international location where I can broaden my learning horizon and widen my reach to global perspectives of handling business and managing larger teams under me. Due to its conducive atmosphere and peacefulness, I am drawn to fulfill my study objectives in Ireland. I am solely aiming to visit this country, only to acquire dedicated training and return to my country to reap the fruits of success and gain a competitive advantage over others due to my exquisite international exposure.
Why Management Practice at Dublin Business School?
I have now reached an intellectual level in my career where I need to expand my learning horizons. If I didn’t do it now, I would probably regret it later. In my position where I am involved in leading a team, I want to become an efficient manager in the future. Acquiring an MSc in Management Practice will allow me to gain a stronghold of the upcoming trends, tools, technology, and operational management skills. I would be able to interpret business data in a much more refined manner compared to what I do currently. The curriculum of this course involves subjects in global issues for management, leading changes and innovation, managerial finances analysis, marketing analysis, human capital management and organizational behavior, and information system and project management that perfectly suit my short-term and long-term career goals. Knowledge of these subjects will help me refine my work style and make me more efficient as an entrepreneur. It will lay down a path toward a managerial/entrepreneurial role for me and boost my talent in this arena. Moreover, the availability of advanced classrooms, renowned infrastructure, guest speakers, industry visits, training, etc., will add to my learning exposure at Dublin Business School.
Why Ireland and not India?
In light of Ireland’s high-quality educational opportunities and well-established study infrastructure across all institutions, I can think of no better place to pursue my study goals. In addition to its prominent history, Ireland offers a mix of cross-cultural people. Further, English is the most widely spoken language in Ireland, which ensures seamless communication during my stay. In addition, I will gain international exposure that is not available in my home country. International students are treated well in Ireland which gives me a valid reason to look forward to studying in Ireland. Moreover, the cost of tuition in Ireland is more affordable than in other English-speaking countries, which makes me attracted to this global education leader. Having an opportunity to study in Ireland gives my further education plan a real meaning due to having confidence in its seamless education system. I am at a phase in my career where acquiring a foreign education will add to my professional profile and strengthen my career prospects back home. I have speculated about comprehensive courses in my home country but lack of international exposure pulled me back and shifted my focus towards gaining education in Ireland. The Indian education system is also a bit more theoretically inclined which has its benefits but right now I want to have access to applied learning because it will fasten my career growth. Moreover, Ireland has a strong approach to training and development which will expose me to a real-time working environment and put my acquired knowledge to the test. I am, therefore, more interested in pursuing this specialization in Ireland than studying in India.
Future goals
Since I have gained a comprehensive overview of business operations in the construction company, I aim to become an entrepreneur with a long-term vision. However, to back up this future plan, I have to gain hands-on exposure. Therefore, I have well planned my short-term goal to join major MNCs like Accenture, Google, Facebook, or KPMG in the position of project manager, operations manager, or consultant. I have also made a thorough analysis of remuneration that I can get back home and I am quite satisfied with the annual salary package that I can get anywhere from INR 12,00,000 to 18,00,000. With this, I can sustain my career and save enough funds to fulfill my long-term career aspirations of becoming an entrepreneur by establishing a construction management company utilizing my past academic exposure and nuanced understanding of management practices through the chosen course and learning skills practically back home.
Family ties and funds
My family includes my parents and my elder sister. My father is a retired Government Teacher from Karnataka and my mother is a homemaker. My sister works as a Project Manager at Amazon and has earned a huge package of 36 lacs INR per annum. Over time, my father has earned and saved enough to lay down a strong financial standing for us. He is capable of sponsoring my education and living expenses in Ireland. Along with him, my sister has promised to support my studies and has come up with a decent sponsorship amount. I am extremely thankful to my family members who have been extra supportive of me and I wish to reciprocate the same by joining them soon after concluding my study program. I will take care of my parents as well as repay my sister with all my good acts and finances in my capacity back home.
Language proficiency
I have obtained a Duolingo test score of 110 to represent my ability to converse in English and I am sure that I will not have any difficulty in communication during my stay in Ireland.
Conclusion
I hereby conclude this letter of explanation hoping to receive a valid study permit to study in Ireland. I promise to stay abreast of the immigration rules and pay equal respect to Ireland’s laws as I do here in my home country.
Yours Sincerely,
Ravichandran Raju
