Below is the SOP Sample for MS in Management and Business Analytics in UK
Beginning my professional journey in 2007 as a Financial Analyst was a formative phase that introduced me to the vitality of analytics. However, amidst all my learning through this position about decision-making, risk evaluation, and the ways to decode data, the presence of technology was a miss. My introduction to an interdisciplinary field where Business and Technology were blended happened in 2017 when, after a decade of working with core banking jobs, I obtained a job as a Team Leader with Axis Vision Ltd. My work entailed the management of the Digital KYC process. Obtaining learning about mitigating the gaps and analyzing the root cause of these gaps, I figured out in three years of this job that I need to upscale my skill set, which needs to equate to the advancements in the market. Hence, at this juncture, I seek the proliferation of my knowledge in the Management and Business Analytics field through the MS program.
Working at Axis Vision Ltd., although I was taking care of the end-to-end management, the work was within the financial sphere. Through the MS in Management and Business Analytics program, I will be in a position to explore other realms such as IT. To this thought of exploring other fields where I could utilize interdisciplinary learning, I got an opportunity to work as a Senior Business Analyst at Talwar Associates of India Private Ltd. in August 2019.
This role encompassed aiding the clients and finding solutions to their problems. For this, I had to analyze their process, performance, products, services, and technology, and based on which I proffered IT solutions. When this captivated me, I decided to obtain more learning, for which I did extensive literature reviews, attended relevant lectures and conferences, and took online learning courses that were core IT, allowing me to read and decode data accurately. Moreover, I worked on perceiving clients’ business requirements accurately so I could work towards attaining them. The four months of working as a Business Analyst in this company, I was certain that my managerial skills, if combined with my business analytics knowledge, would provide a bigger and more sturdy platform for me to tread upwards in my professional career.
To these skills that I used as a manager, I owe that to my education, where I completed a Master’s in Business Administration and learned subjects like Organizational Behavior, Leadership, and Change. These subjects are prerequisites to my MS course in management and Business Analysis. In addition, by taking this course, I will have the opportunity to learn relevant Business Analytics subjects, such as Business Analytics, Business Intelligence, and Data-Driven Decision Making, which will help me develop skills for leadership and employability.
Erstwhile, between my first job and my employment in Axis Vision Ltd., I worked as a Probationary officer at the Emporium Bank of India, India’s largest public sector bank in 2015. Here, I managed the bank’s High Net Worth Individuals (HNI) wealth management and commercial banking relationships. This gave me knowledge about market trends and their significance in making investment decisions.
My long professional tenure in the finance field has enabled a breakthrough in analysis, and now, through the MS in Management and Business Analytics, I am looking for an entryway into the IT solutions and the confluence of those with the business. The common goal of both IT solutions and Business is to maximize profits, and I intend to work towards these aspects. From the MS course, I want to learn Data analysis and modeling that will empower me to use a range of statistical and mathematical techniques to interpret and read data. I want to study Business strategy and decision-making so I can forecast and make data-driven decisions. I also want to study Business Intelligence and Business Process Optimization. I also want to be prolific in Leadership and management so I can be a leader.
Learning the aforementioned will act as a platform for me to obtain my goals. I intend to work as a Business Analyst where I can apply my learning of management and business analytics skills to maximize growth. Later, as I obtain more experience, I want to work as a Chief Financial Officer and work with a company of repute. In this position, I want to develop new policies that will elevate the profits of the organization I will work for. I also want to be in a decision-making position to be able to strategically plan and leverage the market conditions.
To consummate the goals, your esteemed university will be an ideal podium to exercise my skills and obtain relevant learning. St. Paul’s Business School will encourage me to imbibe a solution-driven approach to organizational relevance. It will also enable me to identify the problems and conceive ideas that would resolve these, whilst also analyzing the consequences. I will be equipped to manage contemporary challenges, including sustainability and ethical management, as the university trains students on these aspects too. The well-equipped infrastructure and professors at the University are also what influences me to apply for the MS program at your prestigious University.
The UK is an ideal destination for this course, and I will get global exposure and learn the art of making decisions from the professionals and industry experts with whom I will get in touch during my tenure as a student. Thus, I envisage moving forward with my second academic journey to be dexterous in using data to figure out resolutions after significant analysis and risk calculation. I am ready to plunge back into my academic path and obtain my goals in this pertinent field, where I can use IT-driven skills to find solutions for any business.
