Below is the International Relations and Political Science Personal Statement Example

A groundbreaking participation in a Summer Immersion Program in February 2019 brought to the fore my capacity to understand various aspects that develop a society. During this program, not only did I learn the confluence of academics, but I also imbibed the pertinence of real-time experiences when I learned about business, social sciences, cultures, and liberal education. Learning through these facets stimulated me to participate in many others while also kindling in me the desire to undertake this International Relations & Political Science course.

Understanding the global challenges enticed me the most as I interned in Global Economics and Politics and gained insight into Economics and psychology. During this, I understood how economics and psychology lead to the common interest of individuals irrespective of the field and yield profits that may not necessarily be financial and may be in pursuit of personal goals as well.

In an endeavor to continue my learning in this interdisciplinary field that encompasses several others, in June 2019, I became a part of another 1-week residential program called Eklavya Youth Scholars Program, which was a certified residential summer programme and allowed me to participate in insightful discussions. These discussions were about global challenges, including Climate Change, Big Data for sustainable development, Child and Youth safety online, and a few more. Learning about these, I further understood the underpinning factors such as networking, teamwork, entwined economics, and political decision-making of various countries. This supplemented my interest in International Relations and Political Science as I could figure out the interdependence of the countries on each other.

The numerous participations that I have had through the student club, where I was the secretary of the Doordrishti Club, a mass media club, helped me hone my communication skills. In addition, I was the marketing head of the Sustainable Future club, through which I got an expansive learning about this global challenge and how the environment can be protected, along with ways I could reduce my carbon footprint.

My school also presented me with an opportunity to become a part of clubs like Econometrics and PoliticoMasters, which continued to perpetuate my knowledge in this dynamic sphere. Moreover, what amazed me was the interrelation of psychology with politics and internal relations, where the actions of one country impact another, making this field enigmatic for me. I intend to unravel this enigma and wish to transcend this passion for international relations, political science, public policy, and diplomacy into a fulfilling career.

With the feats and the real-time experience that I have had, I am prepared to step towards this larger-than-life spectrum, enabling me to navigate and reach the decision to undertake a course in International Relations and Political Science.

After completing the course, I envision a professional journey involving impactful diplomatic negotiations and addressing pressing issues such as climate change, human rights violations, or trade disputes. Obtaining an understanding of how I can face the frontiers, I envisage moving forward and getting an MS in this field. This MS course will not only credit me with optimally leveraging the coursework but will also provide a gamut towards scaling up professionally.

With an intention to cultivate problem-solving skills and critical thinking, the UK will be an ideal destination that will help me converge with my immediate and future goals. I am aware of the pedagogy followed in the UK and the tailor-made curriculum that can befit my career needs. This dynamic field has captivated me as someone curious to learn the confluence and perfect blend between various countries’ political and economic decisions. Hence, at this juncture, I am ready to move beyond my country’s periphery and pursue the course that will be the bedrock of my future aspirations.

To succeed in this field, I understand the importance of acquiring a solid foundation in political theory and historical context, for which I have participated in internships on various topics. Studying political science as a subject in school allows me to gain a theoretical perspective on current affairs and helps me to form my own opinion on controversial concepts. These experiences have nurtured my passion for politics while sharpening crucial skills like effective communication and research abilities. So, I am ready to move forward and use my academic bent of mind to acquire knowledge in this elemental field.
