Sub: Application in response to the study permit rejected on 25th Nov 2022 (22111095)

Dear Sir/Madam,

I am delighted to share my acceptance into the Master of Business Informatics Program at ICL Graduate Business School. My course will begin in February 2024. As much as I am determined to pursue this study program, I am saddened by the previous rejection of my study permit which happened due to my choice of wrong course and lack of performance in the subsequent interviews. Earlier I chose to pursue a Graduate Diploma in engineering but I wasn’t much interested in it as I always had an inclination towards business-oriented courses yet I chose to pursue that study program to match my academic background. However, later after my study permit got rejected, I investigated further and tried to find the most suitable study program that relates to my academic background and future aspirations. Fortunately, I came across the business informatics program at ICL and found it the most perfect match for me. Hence, I have decided to reapply utilizing this opportunity to present you with a letter of explanation with validating reasons to nullify the previous rejection grounds.

Family background

Regarding my family background, my father has retired from his role as an army man and currently works as a security consultant. Meanwhile, my mother has chosen to dedicate her time and efforts to being a homemaker, nurturing our home environment. In addition to my parents, I have a separate family unit as I am happily married. My spouse is self-employed, and together, we form a supportive partnership.

Within my extended family, I have a brother-in-law, a sister-in-law, and their delightful one-year-old son residing in New Zealand. However, I do not have compelling reasons to permanently reside with them as my primary responsibilities lie within my immediate family. As a devoted wife and daughter-in-law, my focus is on prioritizing the well-being and care of my own family, recognizing my pivotal role in their lives, and striving to contribute positively to their welfare.

Considering our financial situation, our annual family income amounts to NZD 277,900 in New Zealand dollars, providing the means to sponsor my education and cover all living expenses during my stay in New Zealand.

Academic background

Since childhood, I have harbored an unquenchable thirst for knowledge, earning recognition and appreciation from my educators and mentors throughout my academic journey. Fueled by dedication and diligence, I attained an impressive CGPA of 8.3 in my secondary school examination in 2009, showcasing my unwavering commitment to academic excellence. Guided by my mentors, I pursued the science stream and achieved a commendable overall percentage of 63% in my senior secondary examination in 2011.

Subsequently, I engaged in various social activities and transitioned into married life, embracing the roles of daughter-in-law and wife. Though my aspiration to pursue engineering was deferred, I accepted this as destiny and adapted my educational trajectory accordingly.

Meanwhile, I completed my graduation in B.Sc. (Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics) with a percentage of 59.32%. With a settled and stable life now, I have ample quality time to dedicate to my educational endeavors, aiming to realize both short-term and long-term goals through the pursuit of technical and academic qualifications in my chosen study program.

English Language Proficiency

To meet the language proficiency criteria for my studies in New Zealand, I completed the PTE examination, achieving an overall score of 59 (Listening 61, Reading 51, Speaking 64, and Writing 59).

Why New Zealand?

In light of New Zealand’s high-quality educational opportunities and well-established study infrastructure across all institutions, I can think of no better place to pursue my study goals. In addition to its prominent history, New Zealand offers a mix of cross-cultural people. In addition, I will gain international exposure that is not available in my home country. International students are treated well in New Zealand which gives me a valid reason to look forward to studying here. I am very much excited to experience the quality of life that New Zealand offers. Moreover, the cost of tuition here is more affordable than in other international countries, which makes me attracted to this global education leader.

Why Master of Business Informatics?

Acquiring a graduate certificate in Business Information Technology from Seneca College will allow me to gain a stronghold of the upcoming trends, tools, technology, and database and network management. I would be able to interpret data positively. Since I volunteered with a decent number of organizations, I realized how much data and information play a vital role in deciding the success of business campaigns. I learned business informatics has a huge scope and how much I can excel in it as I already have an engineering/science background and understand the major criteria of data handling. Therefore, I have decided to match my background with the most upright study program which can also widen my scope in business and help me reach the pinnacle of success in the corporate sector. Hence, I am determined to pursue this study program and reap its benefits back home.

Why not India or any other country?

I have speculated about comprehensive courses in my home country but lack of international exposure pulled me back and shifted my focus towards gaining education in New Zealand. The Indian education system is also a bit more theoretically inclined which has its benefits but right now I want to have access to applied learning because it will fasten my career growth. Moreover, New Zealand has a strong approach to training and development which will expose me to a real-time working environment and put my acquired knowledge to the test. I am, therefore, more interested in pursuing this specialization in New Zealand than studying in India.

Why ICL Graduate Business School?

In New Zealand’s array of universities, ICL Graduate Business School stands out as my foremost choice, celebrated for its esteemed status nationally and globally. I trust in its dedication to furnishing advanced facilities and innovative tools for nurturing upcoming talent. ICL’s curriculum, crafted with precision, mirrors thorough investigation and integrates contemporary educational paradigms. The academic pathway I’ve opted for at ICL seamlessly corresponds with my ambition for holistic readiness, offering me a unique edge in my pursuit of higher learning.

Career plans

I aim to gain international exposure in business and technology that I am unable to get in India even after working for a long tenure. Through my knowledge of business informatics, I aim to reserve lucrative career opportunities in India. To fulfill this objective, I will devote myself to my chosen study program and obtain higher grades to unlock work-integrated learning. It will help me in building my profile as per the global industry trends. However, in the long-term, I seek to acquire positions such as Computer systems analyst, Computer security specialist, Information processing specialist & Information systems manager at companies like Google, Amazon, JP Morgan, McKinsey & Company, Gartner, Cognizant Technology, Solutions, IBM India Private Limited, Bain & Company, AMEX, operating profoundly in the Indian metropolitan cities.

Conclusion

I express my gratitude in advance for your gracious assistance and attention in expediting the visa application process. I am eagerly anticipating the opportunity to pursue my studies in New Zealand and to make a positive impact on both its academic and cultural realms.

Sincerely,

Anushka Singh
