Sub: Application to apply for study visa

Dear Sir/Madam,

I am delighted to share my acceptance into the Graduate Diploma in Engineering (Highways) program at the esteemed Western Institute of Technology at Taranaki (WITT). Commencing in July 2023, this opportunity will allow me to further my interest and skills in engineering, marking a significant step towards launching my career in the field. The Letter of Acceptance I received from WITT has validated my choice, and I consider myself extremely fortunate to have been granted this opportunity. I am eager to study in New Zealand and discuss my future with you.

 Family background

Regarding my family background, my father holds a <add> position, diligently contributing to his profession. At the same time, my mother has chosen to be a homemaker, dedicating her time and efforts to creating a nurturing home environment. However, besides my parents, I have an independent family unit, as I am happily married. My spouse is self-employed, and together, we form a supportive partnership. Within my extended family, I have a brother-in-law, a sister-in-law, and their delightful one-year-old daughter who reside in New Zealand. Nonetheless, I have no valid reasons to stay with them permanently, as my responsibilities primarily lie within my immediate family. As a responsible wife and daughter-in-law, I must prioritize the well-being and care of my own family. I am aware of my pivotal role in their lives, and I strive to contribute positively to their well-being.

Considering the financial aspect, our annual family income amounts to NZD <add> in New Zealand dollars. This income gives my family the means to sponsor my education and cover all living expenses during my stay in New Zealand.

Academic background

From a young age, I have nurtured an insatiable thirst for knowledge and have been recognized and appreciated by my teachers and mentors throughout my school years. Fuelled by dedication and hard work, I achieved an impressive CGPA of 7.2 in my secondary school examination in 2011, a testament to my commitment to academic excellence.

Driven by a profound interest in science and technology, I opted for the science stream during my senior years. This decision allowed me to delve deep into physics, mathematics, and chemistry, gaining a comprehensive understanding of these subjects during my eleventh and twelfth grades. My persistence paid off, and in 2013, I successfully passed my senior secondary examination with a respectable overall percentage of 61%.

Subsequently, I immersed myself in various social activities and later embarked on the journey of marriage, assuming the responsibilities of a daughter-in-law and wife. Though my dream of pursuing engineering couldn’t be realized then, I accepted it as fate and adapted my educational plans accordingly. In the meanwhile, I completed my graduation in B.Sc with 56.65%. Having achieved a settled and stable life by now, I have enough quality time to devote to my educational pursuits. I can bring my short-term and long-term goals to fruition by obtaining the necessary technical and academic qualifications in engineering.

India’s road and transportation infrastructure has undergone significant changes in the past decade, with the government planning substantial investments for development and upgrades. Once I complete my studies in New Zealand, I see numerous career prospects awaiting me in India.

My passion for physics and mathematics became evident during my undergraduate years, and I truly enjoy delving into these subjects. Pursuing Highway engineering aligns perfectly with my interests.

During my time at university, I traveled about 33 km daily and witnessed frequent accidents along the way, occupying my thoughts with road safety. Now, with the opportunity to choose my career path, I aim to utilize my existing skills to address one of the most pressing problems of the 21st century while also providing well for my family.

English Language Proficiency

To meet the language proficiency criteria for my studies in New Zealand, I completed the PTE examination, achieving an overall score of 59 (Listening 61, Reading 51, Speaking 64, and Writing 59).

Why New Zealand?

New Zealand is an attractive study hub for international students, thanks to its comprehensive education system and inclusive culture. I am particularly captivated by its state-of-the-art infrastructure and affordable tuition fees, making it a compelling choice to pursue further studies. Moreover, I am confident that my stay in New Zealand will be tranquil, thanks to the country’s stable economic, political, and social conditions. This assurance adds to the appeal of studying in New Zealand, providing a conducive academic growth and personal development environment.

Why Engineering?

Having completed my schooling with a science stream, I have solid grounds to choose Engineering as the next step in my educational journey. My unwavering determination is to build a career in this field and emerge as a proficient engineering professional in the future. During my senior school years, I discovered the profound impact of the seamless integration of science and technology in modern engineering solutions. With this understanding and conviction, I embark on studying this course, equipping myself to embrace challenges with greater resilience and grace as I return home to contribute to the Indian engineering sector.

Why not India or any other country?

After careful consideration, I have decided to prioritize the curriculum offered at WITT over the available graduate courses in my home country. In my country, graduate studies are more theory-based and concept-oriented. However, recognizing the importance of practical education in the global corporate landscape, I sought a program that would provide me with a pragmatic learning environment. For this reason, I have chosen New Zealand, as it offers an affordable cost of education compared to other English-speaking countries while still providing the practical education I seek.

Furthermore, gaining international exposure is a central aspect of my educational journey. Zealand’s educational system and emphasis on practical learning will undoubtedly catalyze my personal and professional growth, enabling me to thrive internationally.

Why the Western Institute of Technology at Taranaki (WITT)?

Among the universities in New Zealand, the Western Institute of Technology at Taranaki (WITT) has emerged as my top preference, renowned for its national and international recognition. With its inclusion in the QS world ranking’s top 100 universities, I am confident in its commitment to providing state-of-the-art infrastructure and cutting-edge resources to educate the next generation. The meticulously designed courses at WITT reflect extensive research and incorporate the latest trends and concepts in education. The study program I have selected at WITT aligns perfectly with my aspirations for comprehensive preparation, giving me a distinct advantage as I pursue further education.

Career plans

My primary goal is to develop an understanding of engineering technology and stay abreast of the latest modern industry trends. With this purpose in mind, I am committed to achieving exceptional grades in my chosen course at the esteemed University of Auckland. Once I have completed my study program, I plan to return to India and join renowned engineering firms such as ABC Limited, PQR Heavy Engineering Limited, and XYZ Limited. The international exposure I gain during my studies will prove invaluable as I embark on my professional journey. My long-term aspiration is to ascend the hierarchical ladder within the engineering field, eventually assuming a leadership role overseeing an entire engineering department.

Conclusion

I thank you in advance for your kind support and consideration in facilitating the visa application process. I eagerly look forward to studying in New Zealand and contributing positively to its academic and cultural landscape.

Sincerely,

Avani Mehra
